Description

A soft, pliable, inexpensive dough that keeps well when stored in an air-tight container.

Ingredients

  • 1 1⁄2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1⁄4 c salt
  • 1⁄2 T alum
  • 1 c boiling water
  • food colouring
  • 1 1⁄2 T vegetable oil

Instructions

large mixing bowl
measuring cup
measuring spoons
mixing spoon
air-tight container
Method: 

Thoroughly mix together flour, salt, andalum. Add boiling water - to which food coloring has been added. Mix with a spoon until the dough has cooled, just enough to handle. Knead (about 10 minutes). 

As the dough begins to lose its stickiness, add vegetable oil. Continue kneading until you have achieved a smooth, non-sticky dough. Store in an air-tight container.

Keep 2-4 weeks, depending on use. No refrigeration necessary.
